Aloha Martyrs!

Are you tired of all this cold, dreary weather? Come and join us in our Hawaiian Luau Scholastic Book Fair and warm up with some great books!

As always, you’ll find hundreds of quality books at our Book Fair with a wide assortment for all reading levels. Students will receive a Book Fair Flyer that provides a preview of only a very FEW of the many books available to purchase at our Fair. The flyer also contains a special Family Event Draw ballot that families can deposit during our Family Event. You could win $50 in books - $25 for your family PLUS $25 for your child’s classroom!

This year, with every $25 dollars spent at the book fair, students will receive a free Calico Kitten Set from Scholastic. The set includes a plush calico kitten, a 32 pg. Calico Kitten book, and a carrying case!

Do you like to draw? Enter the Luau Coloring Draw! Every entry gets a ballot for a draw to win a Scholastic gift card to use at the fair! Get out your binoculars! Find the Hidden Tiki under your desk and win a Scholastic gift card. These are just a few examples of the fun and exciting things we have planned for our Book Fair this year!

Please remember that a percentage of our sales go directly to the library to benefit teachers and students at our school. Your support of this literary fundraiser helps our library obtain new books and resources.

Book Fair Volunteers Needed!!! If you are able to help out during the week of the book fair, please call the school and contact Ms. Caldwell in the library or email at caldwella@hcdsb.org.

Welcome Back!

Welcome back boys and girls! I'm hoping everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable Christmas break!
The library is now pleased to offer a junior and a senior book club! The junior book club is for students in grades 3-5, while the senior book club is open to all students in grades 6-8. Each club meets once a month at lunch time on Thursdays.

Each student reads a book of their choice; either from the Canadian Martyr School library, or a book from home. Students are provided with a Book Review Sheet which they fill out and bring to the book club meeting. During the meetings any student is welcomed to share with the rest of the group by telling everyone a little bit about the book. Be sure not to share the ending in case another student wanted to read it! At the end of each meeting, all the completely Book Review Forms go into a draw and a winner is chosen to receive a $5 Chapters Gift Card! The draw is done every meeting, so the more times you come with your completed Book Review Form then more chances you have to win!

Interested in joining the Canadian Martyrs Book Club? Visit Miss Caldwell in the library today for more information today!
